R Ashwin today became 19th Indian to complete 100 wickets in Test cricket with the
dismissal of Darren Sammy. By taking just 18 Tests, Ashwin is now the
quickest among Indians to accomplish this feat. The previous record was held by
Erapalli Prasanna’s record, who reached the mark in his 20th Test.
Ashwin is the second quickest among all spinners to reach
this landmark after Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett, who took 17 Tests to perform
this feat.
Among all bowlers (pacers or spinners) Ashwin is the fifth
quickest to reach this landmark after George Lohmann (16 Tests) and Syd Barnes,
Clarrie Grimmett and Charlie Turner (18 each).
